Save SoundCloud tracks as MP3 files
MP3 is the format to pick when a SoundCloud track must play everywhere: on a phone, in the car, in a music app or on an old media player. SoundCloudRips turns a public SoundCloud link into an MP3 file in your browser. You do not need an app, an account or a browser extension.
How to download a SoundCloud track as MP3
- Open the track on SoundCloud and copy its link from the address bar or from the Share button.
- Paste the link into the field at the top of this page.
- Leave the format menu on MP3. This page selects it for you.
- Press Download. A card with the track appears and shows the progress.
- When the card says "Download ready", press Download on the card to save the MP3.
In our test on 19 October 2026, a track of 3 minutes 34 seconds was ready in about 20 seconds. Long DJ mixes and podcast episodes take longer, because the whole file is converted before you can save it.
What MP3 quality you get
Every MP3 in our tests was a 320 kbps file with 44.1 kHz stereo sound. This number describes the file we create, not the source. SoundCloud plays most public tracks to visitors as 128 kbps MP3 or as AAC at 96 to 160 kbps, so the MP3 cannot sound better than that stream. If an upload was already noisy or quiet, the MP3 sounds the same way, even with the higher bitrate.
A 320 kbps MP3 uses about 2.4 MB per minute of audio. A four-minute song is about 10 MB, and a one-hour mix is about 145 MB. The file also keeps the track details: title, artist, genre and year were in the tags, and the cover art was built into the file. For more about the bitrate, see SoundCloud MP3 in 320 kbps. MP3, WAV or FLAC?
All three formats start from the same SoundCloud stream, so none of them adds detail. They differ in file size and in where they work best.

Need a larger format? Use SoundCloud to WAV for editing, or SoundCloud to FLAC for a FLAC copy that adds no further compression loss.
Single tracks, playlists and sets
This page works best with a link to one track. In our test, the link to a set returned one MP3: the first track of the set. To save more tracks from a playlist, open each track and paste its own link. The SoundCloud playlist downloader page has more help for playlist and set links.
Private tracks, removed tracks and tracks that need a SoundCloud login do not give a file. Only download tracks that you own or that the artist allows you to save.
SoundCloud to MP3: questions and answers
Why is the MP3 bigger than the track on SoundCloud?
We save the MP3 at 320 kbps, while SoundCloud usually streams at 128 to 160 kbps. The higher bitrate makes the file larger, but it cannot add sound that the stream does not have.
Can I choose 128 kbps or 192 kbps to save space?
No. This page has one MP3 setting, and our tests always returned 320 kbps. Even so, a full album of 45 minutes needs only about 110 MB.
Does the MP3 play on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Both play MP3 files. On an iPhone, Safari puts the file in the Downloads folder of the Files app. On Android, the file goes to the Download folder.
Will the song title and cover show in my music app?
Usually, yes. In our tests the MP3 kept the title, the artist and the cover art. If the uploader left these details empty on SoundCloud, the tags are empty too.
What can I do when no file comes back?
Check that the track plays on SoundCloud without a login. Then copy the link again and paste only the link, without other text.
